KRP Slo Pitch Carniva, July 1st & 2nd

Critters have emerged as the overall Champion (based on runs differences), Kelab Rekreasi Petroliam (formerly KSL) 1st Runner Up and my team Stealers 2nd Runner Up of the just concluded KRP Slow Pitch Carnival. It was an exciting and fun filled 2 days for all of us, everything went smoothly except for a few disputes and arguments during gameplay which is typical of any sports tournament, nah... no Zidane sort of Headbutt stunt either thankfully!
Coincidently, The last scheduled match between KRP and Critters turned out to be exactly like a Final match ! it determined which team will end up on 1st, 2nd and 3rd of the league table. It was an exciting match for both teams and the spectators alike, and the eventual winner was Critters, Stealers was given the honor of officiating the match.
Once again, thanks to the organising chairman Syed Zul and all the KRP committees for sucessfully organising the tournament, you guys have never dissapoint the Miri softballers...

KRP Miri Angels - Ladies Champion of Kuching Open

err..... Linda, why is everyone squeaky clean but you are all muddy and filthy ? Yucks

ok...ok......
I know I have been ignoring you ladies for too long , may be it's because I'm just jealous ?! of a team that never really practise as a full team, or as hard as my team, and yet mine have to go thru much dissapointments and miseries for the last few years (boys....must be all the bad karma you all earned from your foul languages ), and you girls just cruise along smoothly and effortlessly and ended the Champion three times in a roll ! Congratulation ladies... you girls made us Mirians proud.
I hope someone can help post in the comment section on all the games result of the Angels.

Victory is Sweet & Siok !

Kuching Open Fast Pitch Softball Tournament 2006
April 28th to May 1st

Yes ! after many years of drought, Team STEALERS finally won the championship by beating the Legend Thomians by 8-5 in the final match of of the tournament. The 1st inning ended with Thomians leading us by 2-1, on top of 2nd inning, we started to crack their defenses by scoring 7 runs, mostly thru our strategic plays and a few good hits and plenty of base stealing, on the bottom of 2nd inning, Thomians scored another 3 runs mainly dued to walks as our pitcher CY was a little off on his accuracy due to the wet and muddy ground.
The scheduled 5 innings final has to be cut short to 2 by the organiser due to impending rain storm approaching the playing field and we were declared the Champ after the completion of 2nd inning.
Overall we played 6 matches in the tourney and won all of them, Semi vs KRP 11-2, Preliminaries : vs Legend Thomians 4-2, Pending A 14-2, Pending B 21-0, Josephian Flamingo 12-8.
I personally was totally satisified with my team's overall performance apart from a few mistakes during wet condition.

Team Lineup : Max, CY, Paat, Kevin, LVS, Kok Yong, Kong, Peter, Ming, San, Kent, Chris, Soloman, Totti, Fah Lee, Adam, lastly Me

22-02-2006: Hitachi Malaysia sponsors region's first baseball/softball

Hitachi Sales Malaysia Sdn Bhd (HSM) has signed on to be the main sponsor for Southeast Asia's first batting cage centre, a training ground for baseball/softball, in Malaysia.

In a statement on Feb 22, HSM said the sponsorship, valued at RM500,000, gave Hitachi the right to name the batting cage centre one year from its opening in April. 'It's a Hit! Batting Cages' is located on the rooftop of One Utama Shopping Centre.

'It's a fantastic opportunity. We can create sporting history, inspire the next generation of ballplayers, plus the concept's great! It's fresh, exciting, innovative - qualities which represent Hitachi,' said Shigeharu Annaka, managing director of HSM.

'The fact that we have an existing campaign called 'It's A HIT!?, a play on a famous baseball phrase, makes the sponsorship an outright winner,' he added. In the campaign slogan, 'HIT' is short for Hitachi.

'Baseball and softball have all the attributes to be popular in Malaysia. The sports have a hip image, and cater to different players, from kids to adults who haven't exercised in years," Annaka said.

"It's already a part of popular culture through fashion, movies, video games and music," said Tim Freebairn, general manager of Jolt Sports, which owns and manages It's a Hit! Batting Cages.

Hitachi has the foresight and the guts to be part of an emerging sport and a recreational concept that no one has seen in the country. Many companies talk about being different, but few has truly followed it with action."

HSM is part of the global conglomerate, Hitachi Ltd, a Fortune 500 company which produces a diverse range of products from electronics to semiconductors to power plants.

Established in HSM markets products from its factories in Bangi, Selangor, as well as those made in Japan.

Jolt Sports' management has more than 30 years of personal and professional involvement in the game, including coaching credentials from US and Australia.

They are also committee members of the Federation of Baseball Malaysia. Its managers spent years meeting deadlines in media, including stints with ESPN Star Sports, CNBC, AXN, and MediaCorp Singapore.
